Zeebermduinen - Nature
The Zeebermduinen are a beautiful nature area directly beside the beach, between Oostduinkerke and Groenendijk.
What can you expect at the Zeebermduinen?
Between the beach and Albert I-laan, you will discover a varied dune landscape with young dunes, moss dunes and open sandy areas.
- Protected nature reserve: Of the total area of around 45 hectares, approximately 25 hectares are protected as a nature reserve. This gives plants, animals and the fragile dune landscape extra protection.
- Young dune formation by the sea: From the high-water line, small embryonic dunes can form on the dry beach. This makes the Zeebermduinen interesting for anyone who wants to see how dunes develop naturally.
- Lovely place for a short walk: The dunes are ideal for a quiet walk close to the sea. The transition from the beach to the dunes in particular gives the area an open, fresh and natural atmosphere.
- Green moss dunes: In the area, you will find gently rolling moss dunes with beautiful shades of green. This gives the landscape a different character in every season.
- Bunker from the Second World War: In the Zeebermduinen, you will also find a bunker from the Second World War. It is a reminder of the military history of this coastal region. The bunker can only be viewed from the outside and is not accessible inside.
