Krakeelduinen - Nature

The Krakeelduinen lie south of De Panne, close to the French border. This peaceful and lesser-known nature area is part of the extensive dune landscape of the Westhoek and is ideal for anyone who wants to escape the bustle of the beach and promenade for a while.

What can you expect in the Krakeelduinen?

• Unspoilt dune nature: Walk through ancient dunes, open sandy patches, dune grasslands, sheltered valleys and low shrubs, where nature still has plenty of space.
• Flowers, butterflies and birds: In spring and summer, dune violets and other typical dune plants bloom here. These attract butterflies, bees and other insects. Songbirds live among the shrubs, while birds of prey such as kestrels and buzzards can sometimes be seen gliding above the open dunes.
