The Oosthoekduinen in De Panne form a beautiful dune and woodland area of around 80 hectares.
What can you expect in the Oosthoekduinen?
You can walk through dry moss dunes, flower-rich dune grasslands, scrub and peaceful woodland edges.
- Varied dune nature: The Oosthoekduinen are known for their dry moss dunes and dune grasslands. Among the grasses, small dune plants grow, such as stonecrop, dune star moss, lichens and the delicate burnet rose.
- Flowering shrubs and songbirds: In the scrub, you will find plants such as blackthorn, hawthorn, spindle and wild privet. Especially in spring and early summer, birds such as the nightingale, whitethroat, blackcap and willow warbler create a beautiful natural concert.
- Special wildlife: If you look closely, you may spot butterflies, grasshoppers and amphibians here. The Queen of Spain fritillary, blue-winged grasshopper, great crested newt and natterjack toad all feel at home in this varied landscape.
- Duinzoom Oosthoek: Along the picturesque Artiestenpad, you discover the Duinzoom Oosthoek, a rare, well-preserved transition area between dunes and polders. Thanks to the variety of sand, clay, pools and ditches, this is a particularly valuable nature area.
- Fun for children: Children can enjoy themselves in one of the play zones in the area. This also makes a walk through the Oosthoekduinen suitable for families.
