Groene Biezen - Observation point

The panoramic platform Groene Biezen, also known as panoramic platform East, is a lovely viewpoint in nature reserve De Westhoek in De Panne. You will find it along the Oostergrenspad, near the Groene-Biezenlaan, on the eastern edge of the reserve.

What can you expect at panoramic platform Groene Biezen?

• Beautiful views over the dunes: From the platform, you look out over the vast dune landscape of nature reserve De Westhoek, one of the most important nature areas on the Belgian coast.
• Rugged and natural landscape: Here you see a varied landscape of high dunes, open sandy areas, dune valleys and scrub. In this spot, the area feels especially peaceful, spacious and unspoilt.
• Steep climb through the sand: The path up can be quite demanding because of the loose dune sand. The climb is not called a calf-burner for nothing, but the view at the top more than makes up for it.
• Chance of spotting animals in the distance: With a bit of luck, you may spot Scottish Highland cattle or Konik horses, which help with nature management in De Westhoek. It is also a lovely place for birdwatchers.
• Lovely photo spot: Especially in the morning or towards evening, the light falls beautifully across the dunes. You may want to bring binoculars or a camera to enjoy the landscape even more.

Panoramic platform Groene Biezen is not a major attraction, but rather a place to pause for a moment and really experience the scale of the dune landscape. In clear weather, you have wonderful views over the reserve and towards the dunes near the French-Belgian border.
